Auto21 – Post 4

This week we set up the raspberry pi, installed the needed software and got the camera working. We started using the OpenCV library to modify the pictures by changing hue, saturation and brightness isolating the playing card numbers which we want to recognize. With this we should be able to compare these pictures with sample pictures which allow us to find the right card value.

We made a drawing of the blackjack dealer giving an overview of the needed buttons and screens.

We continued to work on the Arduino setup and got the screens working, displaying the chips every player has. Buttons will also need to be added to interact with the system.

Today we also cut out the main plate (circle) using the laser cutter and made the Ring gear and the Pinion gear with a 3D printer. We also continued to research the stepper and DC motors we will be using, looking into the datasheets and learning how the motors work.
