Eleventh & twelfth sprint – Puck Buddies

Due to extreme rush to finish another exam last week I forgot to post to the blog. As such there is content for the two last weeks in this blog post.

Week 48

Have been pretty busy with other exams this week so I haven’t done much on the model, but I have 3D printed some parts so verify that the fit correctly together.

I printed the rack and pinion gears in the hockey puck feeder. Since I made the teeth on the gears myself it was a bit exciting to see if the gears fitted as well together in real life as they did in Solidworks, and it turns out that they absolutely did.

I printed these parts with the highest quality settings since it has small parts interfering with each other and therefor I want as precise print as possible. I use the raft build plate adhesion setting so that the part has a lesser chance of warping and it’s also a lot easier to remove support-filament that’s attached to the raft rather than the buildplate/part.

Week 49

I had the last of my other exams on Thursday the 3. December. After that I can focus 100% on this project. The goal for this week is to have the physical framework done by the end of the weekend. And therefore we have a lot of parts that’s needs to be printed and mounted. We started printing the first parts some weeks back so we already have some parts done and ready to be assembled but there are still some essential parts left before we can start mounting

This  is a far as we came with the physical model this weekend. Have some more parts ready for the model but they require some other parts to be installed first, parts that I don’t have yet. The printer is going 24/7 now.

This week I have been mostly working on other projects and studying for exams. But I have printing parts almost non-stop the whole week. Gaute and I started to assemble the system last weekend. We painted the steel tubes and did a lot of general problem fixing as we assembled the machine. Now that I’m finished with all of my exams I will only work on this project the coming week. I will finalize the material research paper within the next few days.

Due to exams I have not had time work on this project. But this week all hands are on deck.

I spent this last week gathering parts and material we would need to finish the electrical part of the project. We should now have all the necessary components as well as wires, heat shrinks, ferrules etc.
